District Sales

The Tompkins County Soil and Water Conservation District has several items available for sale year round at our office.

Bluebird Boxes -- $14.04 (sales tax included)

The District has information available about bluebirds (New York's state bird!) and how to attract them to the boxes we sell.

Bat Roosting Boxes -- $17.28 (sales tax included)

The District has information available about bats and how to attract them to the boxes we sell.

Wood Duck Boxes -- Pine box is $38.88 (sales tax included)

Kestrel / Screech Owl Nesting Boxes --  $27.00 (sales tax included);  this pine constructed nesting box is suitable for either Kestrels or Screech Owls.  

Barley Straw Program -- Control the growth of algae in your pond.  The SWCD sells barley straw at $9.00 per bale, $30 optional delivery charge within 30 mile radius. Recommendation is 5 bales per surface acre of pond.
USGS Topographic Maps -- The District has USGS topographic quadrangle maps covering Tompkins County available for sale.  The price for each map is $7.00 (sales tax included).  We also have topographic maps available to look at for free in our office.
Fertilizer Tablets -- $0.15 / tablet
Marking Flags -- $0.13 / flag.  100 for $ 8.64

USDA Soil Survey of Tompkins County, NY -- The SWCD has a limited number of soil surveys available.  The District does not charge for copies, but does ask that customers make a $25 donation to support our local Envirothon teams from Tompkins County.
Annual Tree and Shrub Sale -- We begin taking orders for our annual tree and shrub sale in the early part of the year.  Our sale is generally held in April.  When the District begins taking orders, additional information and order forms will be available.  
Annual Pond Stocking Fish Sales -- The Tompkins County SWCD annually sells fish to stock in ponds.  Different fish species (including trout, bass, minnows, channel catfish, koi and triploid grass carp) are sold at different dates through the late spring and early summer; the District typically begins taking fish orders in the early spring.
