Graze NY

The Graze NY program provides technical assistance to landowners interested in attaining a Prescribed Grazing Management Plan.  Prescribed Grazing has been defined by Emmick and Fox (1993) as "the controlled harvest of vegetation with grazing or browsing animals managed with the intent to achieve a planned objective(s)."

Grazing is an economical and environmental benefit to farmers and can help to reduce farming costs.  A Prescribed Grazing Management Plan may be set up for any type of livestock; plans have been set up for dairy cow, beef, sheep, goat, poultry, horse, and horse operations.

Graze NY is a program that has been funded by Congressman Walsh -- his vision was to provide farmers with the technical assistance needed for a prescribed grazing management plan.
